It is really cool. So different from the Gollum most of us think of now. Apparently Tolkien added the word "small" in front of the description of Gollum in reaction to the foreign editions of The Hobbit, many of which depicted Gollum as a large creature.
Tove Jansson's illustration of Gollum is the only one I like.
